Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum

One of the famed tourist attractions in Singapore is the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum located in Chinatown.

The design of the Temple is based on the China’s Tang Dynasty architecture. Legend has it that the Temple houses a tooth relic (left canine) of the real Buddha, Gautama Buddha. The relic was discovered by the Venerable Cakkapala. It is said to be inside a golden stupa but only the Monks are allowed to enter the chamber – visitors can see the relic from outside though.

The authenticity of the relic has been questioned by many people but in the words of Chief Monk Ven Shi Fa Zhao, “…Each of as have different views on what is ‘real’…”. Respect each others faith and beliefs.

I was not able to go inside because it was closed already but I heard that entrance is free. Want to discover Buddhism? Visit this temple.
